Holly Bowling Returns to Winery

Saw Holly Bowling and her grand piano again at the City Winery on Thursday, September 12th.  We met at Sarah and Dave's office building, went down to Beerworks for an ok dinner (it was slider night) and some fine beers.  Then over to the Winery, which was pretty packed already.  I think it sold out, or close.  We had seats center stage, about a quarter of the way back.

Holly opened with an exquisitely beautiful Weather Report Suite, and played a pretty long Phish-heavy two sets for us, great stuff!

set one:
Weather Report Suite >
Fast Enough For You
It's Ice
Cassidy
Talk
Piper >
Let It Grow (reprise)

set two:
Lost Sailor >
Sand >
Dark Star >
Swept Away >
Dark Star >
Morning Dew >
About To Run >
Saint Of Circumstance

encore:
Slave To the Traffic Light

The second set was just incredible.  Lost Sailor is such a great song, though marred by some silly lyrics.  Her intro to Dark Star was thrilling and Dew was simultaneously a glimpse of sunshine and a deep draught of tragedy.

Had a great time, though the beer at City Winery is kind of objectionable.  Oh well!
